Bronny James' rookie season will be the subject of significant debate as we draw closer to the 2024-25 season. Despite an uneven performance in NBA Summer League, new reports indicate the Lakers intend to play Bronny in the first game of the year to let him have a special moment with LeBron.

According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, Bronny is "100% playing" in the first contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22. He's not expected to get much playing time, if any, but that initial game will let LeBron share a moment with his son that he's been dreaming of since Bronny was born.

Considering reports that LeBron may look to purchase a team once he retires, it's wise for the Lakers to keep him happy and playing.

Lakers fans haven't had much to get excited about in recent years. Since winning a championship with LeBron and Anthony Davis in 2019-20, the front office's disastrous decisions have left Los Angeles without many competitive, meaningful games. More importantly, it's left the fans without much hope.

Bronny may not be the player his dad was, but at least this moment is something to get excited about. It'll undoubtedly be one of the best and most fulfilling accomplishments of LeBron's career, even if it feels at times like Bronny is just along for the ride.

In all likelihood, Bronny will spend most of his rookie campaign playing in the G League. Even the most optimistic scouts believe he needs time to develop, and the G League gives him that opportunity. He can still transfer up and get time with the Lakers themselves, but most of his year will be about development.

LeBron and Davis proved during the Olympics that they're still capable of leading a team to a title. Whether or not the Lakers have enough support is the major question, so the hope is that Bronny can turn into a valuable contributor as quickly as possible.
