The Los Angeles Rams didn't waste any time making an offseason splash. Shortly after the 2025 NFL free agency period began, the Rams announced that they had signed All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to a two-year, $46 million contract that includes $26 million in guaranteed cash.
Adams was one of this offseason's biggest available names, meaning the Rams likely had to fend off stiff competition to land his services. In fact, the 32-year-old revealed just how far Los Angeles went to sign him during Thursday's introductory press conference.
Davante Adams Frequently Communicated With Sean McVay in Japan
Adams was vacationing with his family in Japan before putting pen to paper with the Rams. The former Fresno State Bulldog told reporters on Thursday that it almost felt like L.A. head coach Sean McVay was with him overseas due to the constant communication between the sides.

Said McVay sent 2 clips of Adams highlights, narrating each with what he appreciated about his game
"I thought he was out there too just based off of I was talking to him more than I was talking to my wife," Adams said (h/t Adam Grosbard of LA Daily News/OC Register), adding that McVay even sent him two fully-narrated clips of the elite receivers highlights, "narrating each with what he appreciated about his game."
McVay and the Rams' pursuit made a positive impact on Adams, which he made clear during his media scrum. According to The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue, Los Angeles' pitch made the former 2014 second-rounder feel wanted more than other suitors, which played "a factor in his decision."

With Cooper Kupp's time with the franchise over, replacing the WR room leader with a player of Adams' caliber certainly helps soften the blow. The Rams couldn't have asked for a better running mate to play opposite No. 1 WR Puka Nacua, considering how Adams has racked up 11,844 receiving yards and 103 touchdowns on 957 catches in 164 games across the last 11 seasons.
Although the 2024 campaign and reunion with QB Aaron Rodgers didn't go as planned, Adams more than proved he's still one of the league's best wideouts last season.
He converted 85 catches into 1,063 yards and eight TDs while playing for the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, who were among the NFL's worst offensive attacks. It isn't hard to imagine him potentially replicating those results (or improving upon them) with the Rams, who had the ninth-best Pro Football Focus offense grade (79.9) last season.
For comparison, the Jets (74.5) and Raiders (69.4) finished 19th and 25th, respectively.
Adams is clearly excited for his future as a Ram, and the fanbase should be thrilled. The increased excitement is more than valid now that the Rams currently hold the ninth-best Super Bowl 60 odds (+2100) on FanDuel Sportsbook as free agency continues.
