Rampage Jackson To Fight At UFC 186
Earlier this month we mentioned the report that O.C. based fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson would not be fighting at UFC 186 due to an injunction by a New Jersey judge stating that Jackson was in breach of his contract. Per several sources that have been confirmed by UFC, the injunction has been overturned and Jackson will be competing this Saturday in Montreal.

The injunction was overturned earlier this week with a New Jersey judge stating that Bellator could not prove that Jackson’s participation at UFC 186 would cause “irreparable harm” for their promotion. Despite the fact that “Rampage” will still be fighting at UFC 186, the lawsuit with Bellator is still on-going and there will be more legal hurdles to be dealt with between both parties.
As for the bout, Jackson has stated that he still had full intention of going to Montreal to compete at the event. Due to the recent interruptions, the bout with Fabio Maldonado is scheduled to be a catchweight fight of 215 pounds rather than the originally scheduled light-heavyweight limit of 205 pounds.

The news comes at a vital time for UFC 186 as the card was projected to be one of the least successful pay-per-view cards for the company. The original main event was supposed to be the rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao for the UFC bantamweight title. There was also supposed to be a bout with huge title implications as welterweights Rory MacDonald and Hector Lombard were set to face each other on the card. The addition of “Rampage” provides the card with more name value and helps bolster an event whose biggest names at this point were Demetrious Johnson and Michael Bisping, both recognizable but on their own not enough to drive fans to shell out cash with big events such as the Mayweather-Pacquiao mega-fight coming in just two weeks.
The incident first began when Jackson re-signed with UFC after terminating his contract with Bellator, claiming that he was within his rights to do so as the promotion did not hold up several of their obligations in promoting his fights. Bellator continued to state that Jackson was still under contract and that they would be taking action despite the fact that Jackson was already participating in promotional obligations for the UFC on their broadcasts and on social media.

Quinton Jackson is a two-time coach of the UFCs reality show The Ultimate Fighter as well as the former UFC light-heavyweight champion. His return comes after a year-long hiatus where he competed for Bellator, most recently defeating rival Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal. His last fight in UFC was in 2013 when he faced Glover Teixeira in what was the third fight of a three fight losing skid.
UFC 186: Johnson vs Horiguchi is scheduled for 7:00pt live on PPV from the Bell Centre in Montreal Quebec, Canada.
