If you were watching SportsCenter this summer you would think that DeAndre Jordan was the only free-agent of the summer with as much attention as he received. In what seemed to be a very cut and dry signing for the Mavericks, a late night meeting with Doc Rivers and Co. in Houston turned into the biggest NBA story of the summer as he chose to re-sign with the Clippers after agreeing to a contract with the Mavericks.

The decision called into question the ethics and value of agreeing to a contract before signing. In the timespan between the time Jordan agreed to the deal and when he re-signed with the Clippers, virtually every other vital free agent had already signed to another team. The entire incident, while within the rules, left the Mavericks in a horrible position to rebuild after their experiment with Rajon Rondo and Amar’e Stoudemire didn’t pan out.
The entire fiasco left fans of the Mavs with a bad taste in their mouths and it is anticipated that Jordan will be facing Dwight Howard’s return to Los Angeles level ire when the Clippers come to face Dallas in November.
Though basketball is a team sport, the city of Dallas will be doing everything in their power to make Jordan feel very low when he eventually makes his way to the free-throw line for the first time.
