Stevie Johnson – WR

Stevie Johnson may have thought that he was not going to play in LA next season, as he was released by the moving Chargers. However, he may find himself in the traffic infested city under different colors.

The Rams undoubtedly need a second receiver behind Tayvon Austin. They recently released Kenny Britt, and have no real legitimate option to also play wide out. With no first or third round selections in this years draft, the Rams need to use the free agency market to their advantage. Although many mock drafts see the Rams selecting a receiver in the second round, that is not enough.

More from Rams Rumors

The Rams need to bring in a veteran wide-out, perhaps on a two-year deal, that can not only play alongside Tayvon Austin but mentor him. While the most polarizing option, Desean Jackson, has already been taken, they still have a good option. That option lies within Stevie Johnson.

Johnson, the former Bill, 49er, and Charger, would be a great option for the Rams receiving core. Johnson has caught for over 1000 yards three times, 2010-2012, and still shows some spark in his game. In only eight games started last season Johnson caught three touchdowns, putting up 497 yards.

Of course, the question of injury is always prevalent, but simple averages show us that in 16 games started Johnson can put up just about 1000 yards and 7 touchdowns. This would be an extremely good example to set for Austin, who has barely hit over the 500 yards mark. Granted, he is still very young.

Overall, the Rams have some moves to make this off-season if they want to compete with the Arizona Cardinals for the second spot in the division. While it may not be an instant turnaround, these signing would certainly jump-start the process.
