Let’s be frank, we are getting into the rounds that don’t have much impact on the team as a whole. I know, I know, Tom Brady being selected in the sixth round at 199 overall is the perfect counter-example to this, but what can the Chargers really get in this draft? Rumors are circling that the Bolts want a backup Quarterback to learn under Phillip Rivers, but the team will not look for that as late as the second round.

Here, a selection of a big bodied nose tackle does make sense. While Tupou likely won’t see much time at the NFL level as his skillset is nothing special, he would provide a good body to use in goal line situations and punts. The six-foot-three, 325-pound lineman would be a perfect option to plug up the middle in needed situations.

Outside of that, the Chargers can’t find much in the seventh round for their use. Having the selection be someone that can make an impact, even in the slightest, is a good pick for the Chargers organization.

Overall, this mock draft seems pretty promising for the Chargers. The team got a dynamic playmaker at safety, a good offensive tackle that can start immeadeitely, and a game changing rusher that could fall as low as the third round. Throw in two possible impact receivers, and role players in the sixth and seventh, and this mock draft was a productive one.

Whether or not the teams takes this route is yet to be seen. Anything can happen in the 2017 NFL Draft as the landscape of the league is constantly changing. To see what the Chargers actually do we must wait and see.
