The Rams need of quality cornerbacks has been the focal point of recent Rams rumors. One man that is seemingly on the market is playmaker Richard Sherman.

The latest bit of Rams rumors may shock Rams fans, just alone because of who they are regarding.

Rams fans have hated him for several years now, but in the very near future they may be cheering him on for all the same reasons. Richard Sherman has been terrorizing opposing offenses since 2011, meeting the Rams a total of twelve times. All of those headaches he has caused the Rams passing game may be made up if he sees himself suiting up in the Collesium in a home uniform.

Rumors regarding Richard Sherman departing from the Legion of Boom have been circling for weeks now. One location that has not been discussed much, as far as I am concerned, is the city of Los Angeles. No, we are not talking about the newly moved Chargers, instead, we are talking about the Los Angeles Rams and their shocking secondary.

The Rams need a cornerback, there is no doubt about that. While the NFL Draft is coming quickly, the lack of a first round pick may hinder the team’s ability in finding a good corner. Plus, with so many other holes in the roster, it is hard to see the Rams pinpoint their focus in the draft of corners.

While there are options in free agency, the Rams landing one does not seem too likely. Veteran Darrelle Revis may not have much left in the tank and has shown interest in returning to New England. Other solid guys such as Sam Shields and Brandon Flowers are available, but both battled injury and cannot be surefire options for the Rams heading into 2017.

Instead, the one man to answer their problems would be Richard Sherman. Not only would Sherman provide a lock down corner for the Rams, he would give the team the superstar they have needed. Say what you want about Jared Goff, Aaron Donald, Todd Gurley, or Tavon Austin – none of them have been that polarizing figure every team has.

While that point is, in a sense, pointless – having that star power certainly does help bring in other stars looking to win games. With two years under contract, the Rams would have an entire offseason next year to produce a sales pitch around Sherman and company.

Now, what would the Rams need to do in order to get Sherman? According to ESPN’s Joe Banner, the return the Seahawks receive may not be as much as some would think.

"“The most they could reasonably expect to get is a one (first round pick) and maybe something else thrown in that’s late”"

The problem here with the Rams is that they do not have a first round pick to give the Seahawks. Sure, they could try and give them this year’s second (highly unlikely) or give up future picks, but quite frankly that would be pointless for the franchise.

For a Los Angeles franchise that is so young they certainly need the veteran leadership of Sherman, however, they don’t want to shoot themselves in the foot in acquiring him.

The answer to the Rams problem relies upon veteran cornerback Trumaine Johnson. I know, it does not make sense to trade a corner if the team is already lacking, but with the team reportedly shopping Johnson after placing the franchise tag on him, it is hard to pass up.

The Rams would effectively be swapping one veteran corner for another, improving the quality of the player ten fold.  There is no argument that Sherman is the better corner, and adding in Johnson allows the Rams to add a future fourth round pick and give the Seahawks a decent return.

The Seahawks may need a little bit more to agree to this deal, but it would be a good starting point for discussions to begin. This effectively could be a win-win for both franchises – causing the deal to be something that should be pondered.

Whether the Rams land Richard Sherman or not right now is mere speculation amongst the Rams Rumors. However, with the needs of the Rams and the offer they can construct, we may see this deal be the first done out of all Rams rumors.
