2017 NFL Draft: Latest Seven-Round Rams Mock Draft
By Jason Reed
In the fifth round of this mock draft, the Rams went back to further address their receiving core and picked up Malachi Dupre out of LSU. Dupre, coming into the draft as a junior from LSU, has the potential to be a great receiver but is not quite there yet. Dupre may be heading to the NFL too soon, as an NFC personnel director went as far as saying, “I recommended he go back to school.”
Malachi Dupre was not all that bad in his junior year at LSU, as he did the most he could in an otherwise disappointing quarterback system. Dupre reeled in 41 receptions for 593 yards, scoring three touchdowns in the process. The receiver did all he could while playing for the LSU Tigers in an offense that was dominated by running back star Leonard Fournette.

Dupre has the size to be a successful receiver at the NFL level, and could develop his speed to become a legitimate threat. Standing in at six-foot-two with a 39.5-inch vertical and 135-inch broad jump Dupre definitely has the athletic ability to be an impact target for Jared Goff in the future.
The young receiver merely needs some time to develop and get his feet wet in an NFL system to grow into his potential. Los Angeles has a perfect system for this with their surplus of young talent and could give Dupre a comfortable place to grow.
If Dupre does blossom into what his athleticism could be, we may see a second round caliber player taken in the fifth.
