Lakers Rumors: Possible Big Man Targets for the Lakers with the Rockets Pick

Having selected an international center in last year’s draft, the Lakers may want to strike lightning twice and select seven-foot-two Jonathan Jeanne from France. Jeanne is ridiculously tall with an outstanding wingspan, looking very similar to Rudy Gobert.

Jeanne has not had much playing time on the international circuit, as he is nineteen years old and only averaged nine minutes per game across all leagues last year. That is likely to protect him for the NBA, but regardless, with a pick that is not even theirs the Lakers should roll the dice and take a gamble on Jeanne.
Jeanne is nearly identical to Rudy Gobert with his physique and his extremely long wingspan. While we simply cannot draft a player due to a comparison, look how Rudy Gobert turned out.
Gobert fell to the 27th overall pick in 2013, which is pretty ironic, turning into a menacing force. Outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Gobert is arguably the best player from that 2013 draft.
Yes, there will be question marks around Jeanne and whether or not he is ready for the NBA, but with an already young core why not bring in him? The Lakers will not be hurt if Jeanne does not work out as they have another pick only five selections away. The upside for Jeanne is far too tremendous and the Lakers need to start rolling the dice.
