1. Chris Paul

Lakers 2017-18  record with Paul: 43-39 (+17 wins)

Wow, the things that are possible if the Lakers add an established point guard. The Lakers saw their biggest improvement with Chris Paul manning the point, and it was a huge improvement. Just adding Paul obviously could turn this Lakers franchise around, so although it may not be likely, the Lakers should take notice and pursue Paul.

Adding Paul moved Russell over to shooting guard, where he may be better suited going forward. The Lakers seemingly are already committing to this after last season, especially as Russell saw more time at the two. As for the rest of the team, everything remained the same, and it is crazy how big of an improvement there was.

More from Lakers Rumors

This Lakers team, the same exact team that is a top three lottery team, turned into the eighth seed in the Western Conference with Chris Paul. That is absolutely amazing how one player can turn a franchise around, turning a disaster into a winning team. Being a point guard, Paul has the biggest impact of any, and it is apparent from this.

As for his stats, well, they were nothing short of excellent. Paul averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 9.7 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.

His 9.7 assists per game were the sixth-best clip in the NBA, adding another accolade alongside his all-star appearance, his inclusion on the All-NBA second team, and his inclusion on the All-Defensive NBA first team.

The impact of Paul is evident, especially on this growing Lakers team. Although they lost 4-1 in the first round against the Golden State Warriors, this would be a huge step for the Lakers.

Overall, according to these Lakers rumors, the best path the team can take is seemingly going to be Chris Paul. While it may not be the most likely pairing, as it was already denied once, Chris Paul to the Lakers makes sense.
