Lakers Rumors – Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports /

2020-21 Season:

Once again, the Lakers stayed static in the offseason, bringing back any of their pieces that were free agents while not bringing in any other talent. However, at the tail end of his career, James is better suited to play power forward, so the Lakers are running Brandon Ingram at the starting small forward position, moving James to power forward and Larry Nance Jr to the bench.

This finally may have been the perfect move for Lebron and the Los Angeles Lakers, as for the first time in what would be the first time in seven seasons they posted a winning record.

More from Lakers Rumors

Moving James to the power forward position allowed him to once again return to an All-NBA team, making the All-NBA first time while teammate Lonzo Ball made the All-NBA second team. James’ scoring still wasn’t too high, at 21.7 points per game, but he did average 8.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists along with it.

As for Ball, he finally turned the corner and reached his scoring ceiling. He averaged the same points per game as James while picking up 7.2 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game. With Russell, Okafor, and Zubac all averaging over ten points this Lakers team was all around great.

They finished with a 57-25 record, good enough for second in the Western Conference behind the Houston Rockets.

However, the playoffs did not last long for the Lakers. They were swept by the seventh-seeded Golden State Warriors in the first round, despite the team no longer having Kevin Durant.

Overall, if the Lakers want to win any rings anytime soon, perhaps Lebron James isn’t the answer. The team may pursue other Lakers rumors, such as acquiring Paul George or DeMarcus Cousins.
