There has been a multitude of Lakers rumors with the 2017 NBA Draft coming soon.

Markelle Fultz has been the talk of Lakers rumors lately. LA met with Fultz at the NBA Draft combine. LA is said to be interested in bringing him in for a workout. Everyone has talked about the Lakers bringing in another point guard via the NBA draft.

If they were to draft a point guard with the second overall pick, it could make it awkward for the team. It would be awkward since there is already 3 point guards on the Lakers roster.

However, Walton has been playing Russell at the shooting guard position, where he has been performing better. Also, that is his natural position.

Additionally, he has played Clarkson back at the point guard position. Clarkson has been playing both positions. Currently, Tyler Ennis is the Lakers true point guard.

Therefore the Lakers are in a need of another true point guard who can compete for the starting role. Fultz would be the leader on the court LA needs.

More from Lakers Rumors

He has good leadership qualities to lead a team. Additionally, he is an outstanding shooter since he can make a shot from anywhere on the court.

Also, his court vision is similar to Kemba Walker as they are natural scorers who pass every once in awhile. If I had to critique Fultz on one negative aspect of his game, it’s he doesn’t pass that often.

Fultz does pass every now and then, but usually, takes the scoring opportunity when he can. Hence, the comparison to Walker.

Fultz would help fulfill the Lakers need at point guard, allowing the Lakers rumors to come to fruition. He averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. This is proof he is capable of posting consistent stat lines while giving the Lakers an occasional triple-double.

The Lakers would still be able to draft another prospect with their 28th overall pick in the draft. Lately, the question isn’t who will they draft later, but who will they draft with the second overall pick? The answer isn’t obvious as it once.

As fans and critics, we would think they would inform us, however, I think they are keeping who they want on the team quiet.
