The latest Lakers rumors are that Damian Lillard would seriously consider playing in purple and gold.

Don’t you just love all of these Lakers rumors?

If it’s not about the best free agents considering Los Angeles or the young core being dealt
here and there, it’s LeBron James being reportedly open to the Lakers or Clippers in 2018.

It just never ends, really.

The latest NBA star to throw the Lakers out as an option is Portland superstar Damian Lillard. After being swept this season in the first round by Golden State, it’s hard to see just yet if Lillard’s Blazers can compete.

Here’s what Lillard replied via Twitter to a fan.

It’s interesting that he’d bring up Utah, but nevertheless, Los Angeles is still there. If he were to join the Lakers it could be in an effort to get other stars to the same city.

Golden State and Los Angeles are Pacific division rivals, and it could be an opportunity for the league to strike back. After the Warriors won this year’s NBA Finals in five games, it’s their second title in three seasons.

Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and the rest of their core aren’t likely going anywhere. One possibility, though, is that Klay Thompson could leave.

These rumors have to make every Lakers fan hope they come true. It’s been more often than not, unfortunately, that Los Angeles hasn’t been the best in free agency.

Magic Johnson and company hope to change that. If he’s serious about it, Lillard is living proof.

Additionally, Lillard could make the move if Portland spites him down the road. Also, he’s still four years under contract, and wouldn’t be a free agent until 2021.

That won’t stop the Lakers from giving him some thought if the door opens, though.
