Lakers rumors: Los Angeles had their sites set on signing Andre Iguodala
In recent Lakers rumors, according to a report by Lakers Nation, LA went after Andre Iguodala in free agency.
Lakers rumors have started to circle steadily lately. The latest Lakers rumors speculate that Los Angeles was trying to bring in veteran small forward Andre Iguodala.
Iguodala has connections with Lakers head coach Luke Walton. For one, they were teammates in college at the University of Arizona. Then, Walton was the assistant coach of the Warriors for two seasons, winning the NBA Championship alongside Iguodala in 2015.
This signing could have been the one that would have helped the Lakers tremendously. They offered him $20 million according to Lakers Nation and he said no because there was no commitment in the contract.
There have been Lakers rumors of them going to sign other all-stars such as LeBron James or Paul George. Iguodala would have fit in as a one-year option to help develop the young core.

Also, he would be the one small forward content with coming off the bench behind Brandon Ingram. He seems to perform better when he comes off the bench. There is that leadership he brings to the court and the team all the time, no matter who he is playing with.
Imagine if he did sign with LA; then they wouldn’t have to worry about signing a big name at small forward. Other players would be influenced to join in a heartbeat.
If this were to have come true it would have allowed Brandon Ingram to develop with a mentor. He will still develop and grow into the star he can be.
Andre was the correct fit for the Lakers in the present, yet he wanted more than a one-year deal. He could have helped this team make the playoffs and advance deep with his experience. Last season Iguodala averaged 30 minutes, seven points, four rebounds and two assists.
